How I Gained 100+ Followers In 3,5 Days

And how you can too...

If you are a creator in the 0-1000 follower range that's struggling to grow, you know the dilemma. The gurus are chiming in from every direction and telling you that you need to:

  • Post value

  • Write threads

  • Optimize your profile

But what they don't tell you? These things don't work if you're a beginner! They only start making any sense once you've built some form of an audience already.

If you do these now, it's like performing your sophisticated theatre play in front of a completely empty hall... Pointless! You are wasting your precious time & energy.

How do I know? Because I used to be stuck in that exact same place! I got my first 500 followers in 4 months of frustration and struggle. I didn't want to do the work because it felt boring & meaningless. But everything changed when I changed my own approach...

Suddenly, I went from 500 - 600+ in 3,5 days. Three and a half f**king days! My engagement exploded too, I went from averaging 10-15 likes per post to tripling (or even quadrupling) my numbers.

So now you're asking... What did I do to make that happen? I'm glad you asked, here's the first piece of advice that I want you to think about...

1. Be genuine

Authenticity has a very distinct smell.

Fakeness has too, and our receptors are quite sensitive to that. It's everywhere these days and people are fed up with it. Advertisements, politicians, you name it!

We know when someone isn't being authentic. You can tell by the energy behind their writing, or by their inflection and tone of voice. We know whether they actually want to help us, or if they're just trying to make a sale.

When I hop on a call, I can immediately tell whether the person is actually curious & interested in me and my work, or if they're just looking to make a selfish gain.

Is that the reputation you want to build for yourself? Hardly.

When you have the best interests in mind for your audience, they recognize that. When you actually mean the things you're saying, they recognize that. When you act like a snake, they also realize that!

2. Display your personality

Creators in their early stage often get stuck on "posting value", because it has been repeated to them so many times that it's almost brainwashing at this point.

Listen... "Value" isn't the only thing you should post. Not by far!

Yes, value is important. But it's only one part of the equation, one piece of the puzzle, one ingredient of the tasty stew you're cooking up on the stove. One element out of many.

Value on it's own is boring, it lacks flavor. It's a commodity that people can get elsewhere (but better). There's no reason for people to stick around if they find someone that does what you do better!

People are here for your unique personality. Why? Because novelty is interesting! Value and nothing else is like eating the same dish for every single meal. No matter how much you love it, you will get fed up eventually!

Aim towards becoming your most authentic self. This is a lengthy process that can feel uncomfortable, but it's an absolute necessity if you want to succeed with this. But don't worry...

You can do this slowly, step by step. Tell people something about you. What's going on in your life? What are your goals and how do you plan on achieving them? What do/did you struggle with and how did you fix it? Listen to your intuition and show some courage!

3. Do cool shit & talk about it

Don't know what to write about? How about you stop rewriting other people's content, and start an exciting project? Bring something new to the table!

Why do you watch movies or serials? Is it because they are doing menial, boring, everyday things? No? Then why would that be any different for social media!?

You have set a big goal, right? I hope you did, because you should have. If not, now is the time. Start a project that will contribute to achieving that goal. THAT is cool shit. Create an offer, build a community, start a series of spaces... The possibilites are limitless!

Cool shit is how you catch attention and get people interested in you and your projects. Doing cool shit also gives you more than plenty material for content, to the point where you won't even have to spend 30 minutes a day on writing tweets. And the best part? You'll have so much fun doing it that you'll stop worrying about content all together!

You'll also have something to talk about in the comments while you...

4. Engage on posts

Drop the silly attitude of "I'm going to optimize my profile and create content, people will surely just come to me, right?". News flash: No, they won't. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Actually, I take that back. I'm not sorry.

It is YOUR JOB to go hunting. Imagine you're in a jungle and you want to build a tribe. Are you just going to sit around and hope for some people to come by? No! Get your ass up, start walking, and find your tribe members!

You can engage on...

a) Big accounts that talk about similar stuff to yours

b) Creators on your level (peers)

c) Smaller accounts

But these are just prompts. When I engage, I don't look at any of this stuff! I don't look at the time or at the numbers, I just engage with everything & everyone that seems interesting to me. Sometimes I go through the people I'm following and do that.

If you have something interesting to say, people will be curious to learn more about you. They will click on your profile, and they might engage on your stuff in return! Maybe they will even follow you... The trick here is to do a lot of it.

Someone told me he's writing 5 comments every night and he can't figure out why he's not growing. I almost blew the water I was drinking out of my nose from laughter! I recommend you stop counting all together. Take all the time you have on hand and just get lost in it.

5. Build deep relationships

Once you've declared the founding of your own tribe and gotten some members to take part in your "movement", it's time to create deep and strong bonds. Relationships are essentially the entire foundation of Twitter. Everything boils down to them in the end.

The main dynamic here is Support ⇄ Support, but here's where most creators get it wrong. They wait and wait and wait to get, and it never crosses their mind to give! The group rewards those who actively give the most to the group, not those that passively wait for someone to help them.

Be proactive! If you spot someone that you could help, take the time to do so. It doesn't take much of your time and it helps them out so much. Get them on a call. Talk them through the topic and help them solve their problems. People are infinitely grateful for this and they will be supporting you whenever they get the chance to.

And also, relationships exist to be continued & nurtured. Not for you to say "let's connect" and then never message the other person after that. That has nothing to do with relationships!

6. Host spaces

This one's a little more advanced...

Spaces are like coming together with your tribe to sit around the campfire. Maybe even inviting another tribe to come join you. Keep in mind that you should already have a few active tribe members that are willing to participate. It doesn't have to be a lot!

Just make sure that you won't be the only person to show up, because then you'll only get discouraged. My tip is to take someone you're actually interested in having a conversation with, and doing just that. Plain & simple.

And also...

Be open-minded enough to actually implement these. Life doesn't care about you. If you really want to make progress, you need to drop the things that don't work first. And then you need to start doing the things that do work!

If you follow these 6 pieces of advice, I guarantee that your growth will increase (given some time). I pulled in a steady 10-15 followers every day using them and you can too. Not to mention the hefty boost in engagement that you will experience...
